How can I transfer funds into my Commonwealth Direct Investment Account (CDIA)?
You have several options to transfer funds into your Commonwealth Direct Investment Account (CDIA):
Transfer from your linked Commonwealth Bank accountsYou can transfer funds from your linked accounts to your CDIA in real-time using NetBank. Your linked Commonwealth Bank accounts are those you can see on the NetBank home page.
To transfer funds to your CDIA:
- Login to NetBank. If you are beginning from the CommSec website, you can simply switch into NetBank by selecting NetBank from the single sign-on toggle in the top-left corner of your screen.
- Go to the Transfers tab then select Transfer money.
- In the From account drop-down menu, select the account with the funds you wish to transfer.
- In the To account drop-down menu, select your CDIA.
- Enter the amount you wish to transfer and an optional description, then click Next.
- On the confirmation screen, review your transfer details. If they are correct, click Transfer to complete the transfer to your CDIA. Your funds will be available in your CDIA immediately.
From unlinked accounts
If you wish to transfer funds from someone else’s account, or transfer from your account at another financial institution, you will require your CDIA’s account details including BSB and account number.
You can locate your CDIA’s account details by logging into the CommSec website and navigating to the Portfolio tab. Your CDIA account details can also be found on your NetBank home page.

You can transfer funds between your linked accounts by using any Commonwealth Bank ATM., You can also deposit cash and cheques directly to your CDIA at selected ATMs. Locate the Commonwealth Bank ATM nearest you.

You can deposit cash and cheques into your CDIA by visiting your nearest Commonwealth Bank branch. Locate the branch closest to you.
How do I transfer funds from my CDIA to another account?
It's simple and easy to use NetBank to funds from your Commonwealth Direct Investment Account (CDIA). To make a transfer:
- Login to NetBank. If you are beginning from the CommSec website, you can simply switch into NetBank by selecting NetBank from the single sign-on toggle in the top-left corner of your screen.
- Go to the Transfers tab then select Transfer money.
- In the From account drop-down menu, select your CDIA.
- Under To account, you can use the drop-down menu to select an account which is already in your NetBank address book. To transfer to an account which is not in your address book, select Pay new account and enter the account details.
- Enter the amount you wish to transfer and an optional description, then click Next.
- If you are paying to an account which is not in your address book and are registered for NetCode SMS, you will need to receive and enter a NetCode to continue
- On the confirmation screen, review your transfer details. If they are correct, click Transfer to complete the transfer from your CDIA.
Will my CDIA appear in NetBank?
Yes, your Commonwealth Direct Investment Account (CDIA) will be accessible when you are logged into NetBank along with your other linked Commonwealth Bank accounts.
How can I change the transfer limits for my CDIA?
You can change your daily withdrawal limits using NetBank, however these limits will apply to all your linked CBA accounts.
To change your NetBank daily withdrawal limits, simply follow these steps:
- Login to NetBank. If you are beginning from the CommSec website, you can simply switch into NetBank by selecting NetBank from the single sign-on toggle. The toggle is located in the top-left corner of your screen.
- Go to the More tab, then select Payment limits.
- Select the limits that meet your needs from the drop-down menus.
- If you are registered for NetCode SMS, you will need to receive and enter a NetCode and then select Save Changes.
Changes will take effect immediately and you will receive a bank message to confirm your daily withdrawal limits were updated successfully.
What are the current interest rates associated with the CDIA?
How can I provide my Tax File Number (TFN) for my CDIA?
It's easy to provide your Tax File Number (TFN) in NetBank. Simply go to the More tab, select Manage my accounts, then Update my Tax File Number.
Your details will be updated within 24 to 48 hours of receipt of the form.
Please note that without a valid TFN or a TFN exemption applied to your Commonwealth Direct Investment Account (CDIA), you may be subject to withholding tax.

Is there a minimum balance required in my CDIA?
There is no minimum balance requirement for the Commonwealth Direct Investment Account (CDIA). Interest on the CDIA is calculated daily and credited to your account on the last calendar day of each month*.

- Select the Portfolio tab, then Offers and Apply.
- From the left-hand menu, select Applications.
From this page you can add another CDIA to your portfolio.
