Chat Rooms

At the CommSec chat rooms you can post messages to other clients in real time, both in a public forum and privately. You can also search on key words to display all of the messages previously posted that reference a particular subject.

The chat rooms window is refreshed every 15 seconds, keeping the conversation live and in real time. Anyone who is logged on can view the live chat rooms and participate in the conversation. You can also request to converse with someone privately. If they agree, your conversation is taken off line into a private window that cannot be viewed by other participants.

If this is your first visit to the CommSec chat rooms you will be asked to create an alias for your account. Think carefully about what alias you choose as once it is entered you cannot change it.

If you are a guest and not a CommSec client you are welcome to use the search facility but you will not be able to post messages. If you would like to participate, it's easy to become a CommSec client and it's free.

These chat rooms are operated by Commonwealth Securities Limited ABN 60 067 254 399. The following terms and conditions apply when you use the chat rooms.

1. The chat rooms are not intended for people outside of Australia.

Commonwealth Securities Limited and its related bodies corporate do not vouch for their accuracy or authenticity of information and opinions expressed in the chat rooms. Commonwealth Securities Limited and its related bodies corporate will not be liable to you for any loss or damage of whatever nature arising out of: your use of or access to, or inability to use or access, the chat rooms or any information, opinion or material in the chat rooms, or statements or conduct of any third party in the chat rooms.
3. Information and opinions expressed in the chat rooms are general information. They might not be accurate. They must not be relied upon as advice. They are not intended to be advice. Welcome to the new CommSec Chat Rooms with added functionality. You now have access to Chat Rooms functionality, however, as you are not a CommSec client you will not be able to participate in the conversation.

To view the Chat Rooms window and view CommSec clients chatting, click General Stock Chat, Stock Analysis, Managed Funds, Feedback/Support or our new room Derivatives. To search for specific public messages, for example, all messages sent by a particular person, discussing a particular topic, or posted between certain dates, click Search.
